USA Today's Top 150 Bestsellers

USA Today's Top 150 Bestselling Books as of 04.24.2011

Thursday, April 28, 2011: According to USA TODAY, the following list contains the top 25 best selling books (out of 150) - based on sales through Sunday, 04/24/2011.  For the complete list of 150 books for the week or just to check out more information - plus reviews, book news and a searchable archive of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list - visit their website.
Note of the week:  YA jumped 4% over last week to covet 24% of the top 25 books on the list - makes you wonder if perhaps YA is on the move? And the answer? Not quite.
Nothing new this week, just a shift in position of titles. Dropping 3 slots to the #12 spot was Ms. Clare's new addition to the Mortal Instruments series, City of Fallen Angels. I finished this book earlier in the week and will say that I do rather enjoy the series - and I've ordered the prequel, Clockwork Angel, which I'm looking forward to reading. I'm now on to the final installment in Carrie Ryan's Forrest of Hands and Teeth trilogy, The Dark and Hallow Places - which I'm surprised hasn't even made it onto the top 150 list at all (yet!). So far, I'm really liking the MC - albeit, this is a much, much darker journey, then Ryan has taken us on before. I think I'm going to really enjoy this one.

Note of the week:  YA is on the upswing, covering 20% of the top 25 titles on the list. New this week, Stephenie Meyer's Illustrated guide of the Twilight Saga makes it's debut in slot #4, while Ms. Clare's new addition to the Mortal Instruments series, City of Fallen Angels, lands in the #9 position. I'm actually reading City of Fallen Angels right now - and so far, so good!

USA Today's Top 150 Bestselling Books as of 03.27.2011

Thursday, March 30, 2011: According to USA TODAY, the following list contains the top 25 best selling books (out of 150) - based on sales through Sunday, 03/27/2011.  For the complete list of 150 books for the week or just to check out more information - plus reviews, book news and a searchable archive of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list - visit their website.

Note of the week:  YA continues to struggle to gain ground in the top 25 books on the list this week. Other than the addition of INVINCIBLE - a new Vampire / Zombie title which debuted at #23 - no new news from our teen friendly genre. I will say, I just finished reading UNBROKEN, by Laura Hillenbrand (currently #11) - and what an absolutely amazing read this was. While a departure from all the YA I've been clawing my way through at a wicked pace, this story is a must read and highly recommended (please see my review posted just below this entry).

USA Today's Top 150 Bestselling Books as of 03.20.2011

Thursday, March 24, 2011: According to USA TODAY, the following list contains the top 25 best selling books (out of 150) - based on sales through Sunday, 03/20/2011.  For the complete list of 150 books for the week or just to check out more information - plus reviews, book news and a searchable archive of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list - visit their website.
Note of the week:  Another tough week for YA reads, with only 5 titles making it into the top 25. Aside from Suzanne Collins trilogy - which are bound to gain more ground with recent movie news - the only new title comes to us from L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries series. Hey, I'm willing to offer up a title or two for the list...yanno, if they're looking and all?
Come on YA, we need some excitement - and soon!

USA Today's Top 150 Bestselling Books As Of 03.06.2011

Thursday, March 10, 2011: According to USA TODAY, the following list contains the top 25 best selling books (out of 150) - based on sales through Sunday, 03/06/2011.  For the complete list of 150 books for the week or just to check out more information - plus reviews, book news and a searchable archive of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list - visit their website.

Note of the week:  This quite possibly might be the worst week of YA title appearances on the top 25 list I've seen in over a year - with only 3 titles making the cut. Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins, has dropped to the number 27 position - the first time since September of last year, that all 3 of Suzanne's books weren't in the top 25. Come on YA - I know people are writing this genre like crazy - so where are all the good ones at?

USA Today's Top 150 Bestselling Books as of 02.27.2011

Thursday, March 3, 2011: According to USA TODAY, the following list contains the top 25 best selling books (out of 150) - based on sales through Sunday, 02/27/2011.  For the complete list of 150 books for the week or just to check out more information - plus reviews, book news and a searchable archive of USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list - visit their website.

Note of the week:  YA books have dropped off slightly from the top 25, but plenty of books-turned-into-movies have made their way back onto the list, evident by the #5 spot holder, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS - the movie, staring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, comes out next month. BEASTLY sits in the #26 position, which starts in theaters today - and stars Alex Pettyfer - who also plays the lead role in the recently released, I AM NUMBER FOUR.
