It had to start somewhere!
I was born and raised just outside of Seattle, Washington, and by the time I was four years old, I'd read every Roald Dahl book I could get my tiny little hands on. To date, he is still one of my all-time favorite authors - and it's because of him, the far away make-believe worlds I created, were ever put into words on paper.
I attended Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I studied international business and law. After school, I moved back home to Seattle, where I put my passion for writing on hold to focus on a career in fashion apparel merchandising - and for almost eleven years, I traveled the world and lived every girl's dream of shopping for a living.
Then six years ago I decided to try my hand at something entirely different and now I'm a marketing professional for a large cellular company in Bellevue, Washington. My current position of creative development manager, is just a fancy way of saying I'm responsible for finding imaginative ways to make all things coordinate with the wonderful color of magenta. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
I love sushi, chocolate, French fries, Haagen Dazs Chocolate-Chocolate Chip ice cream, and Haribo gummi bears (but only the red and the green ones) - although preferably not all at once. I love to read, shop, travel, CrossFit, ski, and golf - and am a huge fan of NCAA March Madness (Vegas for 1st and 2nd rounds, anyone?). I also have a huge passion for footwear, denim, and handbags and I've spent well more than I care to admit, on single items in each one of those categories. And I can justify every. single. penny. Need help explaining those $150 jeans to your husband? I'm your girl.
Writing is still my number one passion in life - and I'm on the hunt for a great literary agent. I firmly believe (s)he is out there somewhere...after all, it only takes one person to like what I write, and believe with help from me, they can sell it to the world!
I have three completed novels under my belt and am working on various projects (sequels!) related to each of them - all of which are in my genre of choice, Young Adult. There's just something about reading and writing for Young Adults - where going back to a time in my life, when there was nothing more exciting than being asked to Homecoming, falling in love for the first time, and Friday night football games.
I'm an active member of both the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association (PNWA) and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). I currently live just outside of Seattle, Washington with my husband, a very active German Shepard and two crazy cats.
